A helicopter is used to spread Wolastonite (below) over Watershed 1

In 1999, peletized calcium (powdered wollastonite with a lignin sulfonate binder) was applied to watershed 1 of Hubbard Brook LTER using helicopters in order to evaluate the role of calcium supply in regulating the structure and function of base-poor forest and aqatic ecosystems.
