In August 1998, the LTER Network Office published a volume: Data and Information Management in the Ecological Sciences: A Resource Guide, edited by W. Michener (formerly of NIN LTER), J. Porter (VCR) and S. Stafford (AND). This volume grew out of a workshop at the 1997 Ecological Society of America meeting and was co-sponsored with the Organization of Biological Field Stations and ESA Long-Term Studies.
