F. Stuart "Terry" Chapin, III, the principal investigator of the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site, has been named President of the Ecological Society of America (ESA).
Chapin, a Professor of Ecology in the Institute for Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, was elected by ESA members to serve a one-year term, during which he will preside over the world's largest professional organization of ecologists -- representing some 10,000 scientists in the United States and around the globe
