The new Harvard Forest website, which went live in February, integrates the previous website’s strengths (among them an easily accessible, well organized data archive) with a range of new features, including real-time datastreams and webcams, detailed information on “K to gray” educational opportunities, and new descriptions of policy, conservation, and arts and humanities initiatives.

Importantly, the site’s new Drupal-based content management system enables tagged and searchable content across the site, including news, highlights, and photos allied with major research topics. These improvements are intended in part to advance and strengthen the visibility of the Forest’s LTER activities. The Drupal infrastructure also allows multiple researchers and administrative staff to log in and contribute content to the site, which encourages dynamic, frequently updated content.
