Kudos for Konza Scientist

Melinda D. Smith, a graduate researcher at Konza LTER and a PhD candidate in the Division of Biology at Kansas State University, won the Murray F. Buell Award for Excellence in Ecology at the 86th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Madison, WI, August 2001.

The award is given to a student for the outstanding oral paper presented at the ESA Annual Meeting.

The title of her talk, coauthored by Alan K. Knapp, was "Loss of subordinate species affects productivity of a C4-dominated grassland."
