August 3, at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Jerry F. Franklin, LTER Coordinating Committee Chairman and Professor of Ecosystem Analysis at the University of Washington in Seattle, took over as 1993-1994 president of the 7,000-member Society.
During his term, the ESA will establish a headquarters in Washington, D.C. and recruit an Executive Director.
