Instructions for article submission

News Briefs

We welcome articles and stories of a general nature that are of interest to the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) community and our general readership.


Articles should be written in simple English for non-scientific audiences. Articles can focus on:

  • Site activities
  • Network level activities
  • Education, training, and outreach
  • New developments in ecological research, science, and technology
  • Personal experiences in LTER research
  • The comings, goings, and transitions within LTER
  • International LTER news
  • Upcoming events
  • Important new publications


Please include photos and graphics where appropriate. Photos and graphics should be:

  • High resolution, typically 300 pixels per inch (ppi) or better at the intended print size or optimized for web viewing
  • Must include photographer credits and brief descriptions or captions.

All photos thus submitted are understood to be intended for publication in LTER documents without further restrictions.
