Most LTER sites or their home institutions participate in NSF's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program, which offers research experiences in ecology to undergraudate students each summer. Participants receive stipends and course credit and work closely with scientist mentors. Some sites provide similar opportunities through private foundations and sources like the United Negro College Fund. Some sites post REU application information on their Gopher and/or Web servers.
